Permanent Account Number (PAN) Registration
The income-tax identifier that underpins almost every other registration.
What a PAN is
A Permanent Account Number is a 10-character alphanumeric identifier issued by the Income-tax Department. It is mandatory for filing returns, for many high-value transactions, and as the basis for most business registrations.
Companies and LLPs receive a PAN automatically as part of incorporation. Individuals, partnership firms, trusts, societies, and foreign entities with Indian income apply for one separately.

- Anyone entering specified high-value or financial transactions
- Partnership firms, trusts, and societies (companies/LLPs get it at incorporation)
- Foreign nationals and entities with taxable income in India
