Pollution Control (Consent) Registration
Consent to Establish and Consent to Operate from the State Pollution Control Board.
What pollution-control consent is
Industries with the potential to pollute must obtain Consent to Establish (CTE) before setting up, and Consent to Operate (CTO) before commencing operations, from the State Pollution Control Board under the Water Act, 1974 and the Air Act, 1981.
Units are categorised as Red, Orange, Green, or White by pollution potential, and the category drives the consent requirements, the fee, and the validity period.
Who must obtain it
- Manufacturing and processing units in the Red, Orange, or Green categories
- CTE is needed before construction; CTO before operations begin
- White-category (least polluting) units usually need only an intimation
Documents you'll need
- Project and site details, with layout
- Manufacturing process and raw-material details
